The why: Is socialism in this photo?

The because: This Marine is equal to that president. The president is not an elite. He, like the Marine, is a servant of the people. Neither is greater than the other.

The socialism: An elitist attitude, whether through what I name as the three evils [see here], or through other “class” systems, will promote certain individuals over others. The actual socialist state itself may define those who comprise the elite, or the elite may self-elect.

The free people: We are all endowed by our creator with equality.

The amended quote: “None need hold, by command or otherwise, an umbrella to a president; whether it rain or raineth not.. .”
